Fur parents from Quezon City and other nearby areas gathered today at the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Visayas Avenue, for the free anti-rabies vaccination, microchipping, deworming, and neutering services. This activity, part of BAI’s 95th anniversary celebration, also marks the celebration of Rabies Awareness Month.

Veterinarians from the National Rabies Prevention and Control Program of the BAI-Animal Health and Welfare Division (AHWD) teamed up with the Quezon City Veterinary Office in administering free anti-rabies shots and conducting deworming and neutering procedures to numerous pet dogs and cats. The event was made possible through the support of key organizations such as the Philippine Veterinary Medical Association (PVMA), Philippine Veterinary Drug and Nutrition Association (PVDNA), Philippine Animal Hospital Association (PAHA), and Vets Love Nature (VLN), all of which extended their assistance in ensuring the success of this event.

The initiative highlights BAI’s commitment to animal welfare and disease prevention, ensuring that pets receive essential healthcare and public safety.

Rabies remains a major public health concern in the Philippines, with the disease still posing risks to both humans and animals. The BAI has been leading efforts to eliminate rabies through mass vaccination programs and public education campaigns.

Aside from anti-rabies shots, BAI also offered free neutering services. This aims to help manage the growing stray animal population. By spaying and neutering pets, BAI hopes to prevent unwanted litters and reduce the number of stray dogs and cats roaming the streets.

Through this event, BAI reaffirms its commitment to promoting animal health and protecting communities. This activity is a proactive step towards a safer and healthier environment for both animals and humans.
